We present the participants and winners of the "Climate Innovation Vouchers" project - "Architectural Workshop "Ekodar", which developed a digital tool for displaying building characteristics - radar.house.

We tell you how much help they received from the project, and what successes they have now.

From the first mouth - from the head of the company Andriy Lesyo.

ABOUT INNOVATION: how to learn everything about the future house

For many people, the biggest investment in life is in a house. And it is extremely important to understand the parameters of the living environment, at least in the same way as when buying a car - to calculate the necessary parameters, to understand what conditions can be provided. And this is extremely difficult in a situation with a house project. That's why we developed radar.house - a digital tool for quickly evaluating the best option for a house in terms of comfort, energy efficiency and environmental friendliness. It allows you to see the picture of the future project depending on the local climate, building materials and technologies, architectural design and user preferences. For example, if we equip electric heaters, the costs will be as follows, and if heat pumps are installed, the costs will be as follows.

We were ahead of the curve, because energy efficiency problems often lead to problems with the "health" of the building itself. For example, when they focus on insulation, everything gets clogged, like in a thermos, because the minimum amount of energy is spent this way. It is necessary to take care of the climate inside. Everything should work to create a healthy environment for a person. This is exactly what we developed radar.house for.

In the digital model, we included a huge array of data for the last 5 years across Europe with an accuracy of up to 10 km. We even take climate change into account.

ABOUT THE VOUCHER: the effect of the project is greater than expected

We spent the voucher of the "Climate Innovation Vouchers" project in the amount of 43,400 euros specifically for the development of the digital tool radar.house, as well as for the analytics on the reduction of the carbon footprint that it provides. Thus, we received a simple tool for effective promotion and implementation of zero-carbon construction, including in reconstruction projects of Ukraine.

Radar.house is a three-dimensional informative model that shows the conditions of a new building development. It calculates what the result will be, and then it is clear what to change to improve the indicators. Specialists (architects or energy auditors) need to spend up to four weeks to then show the client only a certain option. And in a few minutes we can provide information to the seller of the house, the buyer or the customer according to many indicators. Radar House is a three-dimensional informative model with information on the surrounding climate, on the materials used - their weight, quantity, etc. (for example, a wall made of a certain material with certain resistance coefficients will give the following effect, from a different material - the effect will be different). This is really a model of the future house, and in this digital double we set different building conditions and calculate what the results will be in terms of the microclimate inside, in terms of energy efficiency. And all this, when the house is not yet there.

There are always difficulties in the work of the team at the stage of development, prototype and in more favorable times. It is indisputable that we simply would not have developed such a tool separately as a project without Voucher. It would hardly be possible to develop something with your own resources in such circumstances.

The effect of the project is much greater than expected. Now it looks like a necessary tool and from the point of view of the perspective reconstruction of the country. It seems that during the reconstruction of the destroyed or the rapid construction for the displaced people, there is not such a deep understanding that people need somewhere to live. But now there is a great chance to create an energy-efficient and healthy housing system for people.

ABOUT SUCCESSES AND PLANS: Modular houses in Europe and street restoration in Kyiv region

We have negotiated with Swiss developers and architectural offices to use the radar.house tool to determine compliance with green building standards.

Currently, we are already close to the first sales of the product as a service, on the terms of a subscription fee.

We are also conducting negotiations on the joint creation of a production line of modular houses. Together with partners, the project of modular houses was adapted and three pilot facilities were built in Germany and one in the Netherlands.

Work has begun in Ukraine within the framework of projects for the restoration of Ukraine. Talks have already been held with five communities affected by the Russian occupation. In particular, we are currently working on the most affected street in the village. Andriivka near Kyiv, 50 houses there were completely destroyed. We want to carefully work out the social components, because in order for residents to return, the environment, infrastructure, sewerage, optical fiber must also be restored... The main thing is that we direct the restoration to the maximum, oriented to people, in principle, better than it was. It's not just that a person can survive, but can live in comfort and be happy.
